Our people are our power.
That’s why we foster a culture that respects them, celebrates their diversity and helps them feel a sense of belonging. We know the more perspectives we bring to the table, the more creative our ideas become — and the better decisions we can make for our customers around the world.
Read on to see how our focus on diversity, inclusion and belonging helps our 10,000+ Hillrom associates do what they do best: enhance outcomes for patients and their caregivers.
“For Hillrom, and for me personally, diversity and inclusion are non-negotiable. Only with a diverse workforce—one in which everyone is encouraged to share their authentic selves and face uncomfortable truths—can we hope to enhance outcomes for the patients and caregivers we serve all around the world. Whether you’re a Hillrom employee, supplier, customer or shareholder, I invite you to join me in this important work.”
— John Groetelaars, President and Chief Executive Officer, Hillrom
Our inclusive, respective culture starts at the top. Our Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging Council includes our CEO, Chief Talent and Diversity Officer, and high-level leaders from around the world. In fact, Women leaders make up 36% of Hillrom’s Board of Directors and 47% of our Executive Leadership Team — and both teams include people of color and members of the LGBTQIA community.
In 2020, Hillrom CEO John Groetelaars joined more than 1,000 CEOs who have signed the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion pledge — committing himself and Hillrom to advance diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Learn what actions we are taking to cultivate a workplace where diverse perspectives and experiences are welcomed, respected and openly discussed.
Racial justice cannot wait one moment longer — and we are taking action. REACH (Representation, Awareness, Education and Community at Hillrom) is a CEO-initiated and sponsored program to support and retain Black team members at every level of our organization. See how the REACH initiative, begun in 2020, is already impacting our culture – and encouraging us to set our sights ever higher.
When our people come together, they do great things. So we encourage all of them to join our Employee Resource Groups — cornerstones of our diversity, inclusion and belonging strategy. These company-sponsored, employee-led teams help our employees interact with Hillrom’s leaders and collaborate with colleagues with similar life experiences or backgrounds.
We know the benefits of diversity, inclusion and belonging extend beyond our own team. That’s why we partner with a number of external organizations to recruit more diverse talent and make an impact in our communities. We’re also proud of the many awards we’ve received in recognition of our focus on diversity, inclusion and belonging. Our focus on diversity starts as early as the hiring process. All our recruitment programs require open searches to include diversity among candidates and interviewers, as well as on-site and virtual visits to meet potential job candidates.

“It is truly great working for a company that offers such generous parental leave. I was fortunate enough to spend quality time with my wife and son for our first 6 weeks as a family. This is something I will always value and I would recommend to any father working at Hillrom!”
